Dressings on the wounds are waterproof, so showering is ok.
Walking is recommended. A 10-15 minute walk twice a day is beneficial.
Keep your leg elevated on a cushion/couch when you are resting.
If you have skin staples, these should be removed around 10-14 days after the procedure. This will be arranged at the time of discharge from hospital.
You will be given an appointment for review approximately six weeks after the procedure, with an ultrasound to be done prior.
If you notice redness or discharge from the wounds, worsening pain or fever please contact me.
Usually, it will be necessary to have an ultrasound at regular intervals in the future to ensure the bypass remains open in the coming years.
